Toledo native Grace VanSlooten enters transfer portal after 2 seasons at Oregon

VanSlooten, a former star basketball player at Notre Dame Academy, averaged 15.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game last season with the Ducks.

EUGENE, Ore. — Toledo native Grace VanSlooten announced Wednesday that she has entered the transfer portal after two seasons at the University of Oregon.

Last season, the 6-foot-3 forward averaged 15.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. She earned All-Pac-12 honorable mention for the 2023-24 season as a sophomore.

VanSlooten was a star basketball player at Notre Dame Academy for three seasons before spending her senior year of high school at IMG Academy in Florida.

She was the No. 13 overall player in the class of 2022 and rated a five-star prospect, according to ESPN. VanSlooten was also named a 2022 McDonald's All-American.

In three seasons at NDA, VanSlooten scored over 1000 points and 600 rebounds. She earned Division I All-District Player of the Year as a sophomore and junior with the Eagles. VanSlooten was named first-team All-State her junior season at NDA after averaging 21.8 points and 12.5 rebounds per game.

She was selected to USA Basketball's U19 Women's World Cup roster in 2023, helping lead Team USA win its third consecutive gold medal at the FIBA U19 Women's World Cup in Spain. VanSlooten started in all seven games for Team USA and averaged 8.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.

VanSlooten was one of three Oregon players to enter the transfer portal on Wednesday.
