TOLEDO, Ohio — Crews tackled a structure fire Tuesday afternoon in south Toledo.

Toledo Fire & Rescue Department was called to a report of a structure fire around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at a house in the 500 block of Geneva Avenue.

Initial reports were that two people had entered the home, according to a TFRD official at the scene. Those reports then escalated to reports of 12 people having entered the home. In a Toledo police report, the people allegedly in the home were described as "up to 12 children" and said they were told people were yelling for help.

Once at the scene, Toledo Fire did a quick attack and search on the fire and discovered no one was home. Crews knocked down the fire on the back of the house, which then extended to the attic of the structure. According to the police report, the home sustained major structural damage inside.

A secondary search still showed no occupants within the home, despite the initial reports. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire and all other information is still under investigation, TFRD said.
