OREGON, Ohio — A popular retail and refuel chain is in the early stages of opening its first Lucas County location.
Sheetz, a gas station/restaurant/convenience store chain based out of Pennsylvania, is pursuing a project on Navarre Avenue in Oregon, according to a city of Oregon Building & Zoning Department representative.
The proposed location is 2740 Navarre Ave., next to Mercy Health St. Charles Hospital. A city representative said the sale of the property does not appear to be complete yet, but confirmed Monday that it is a proposed project.
The city of Oregon's Design Review Committee will meet Wednesday at 2 p.m. to review the architectural and landscaping requirements requested for construction. The meeting will take place in council chambers at the City of Oregon Municipal Building.
The new location would be part of Sheetz's plans to expand throughout Ohio and into Michigan. The company has several stores in central and northeast Ohio, but has yet to open a location in Lucas County.
A multi-million dollar Sheetz warehouse is in the works in Findlay, which the company said is anticipated to create 750 jobs over 5 years.
It is not yet clear when either location is expected to open.
