Longstanding Italian restaurant staying put on Monroe Street

After teasing a possible move and downsizing, co-owner George Mancy said the restaurant is not leaving its current location of 27 years.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Mancy's Italian Grill is staying put.

Restaurant co-owner George Mancy told WTOL 11 on Thursday the restaurant will stay at its location at 5453 Monroe Street in west Toledo where it has been for 27 years.

In March of 2023, Mancy announced the restaurant was seeking "a more intimate and contemporary location" than the 11,036 square feet it currently occupies. Its sale had been listed at $2,375,000.

Mancy said the restaurant prides itself on the generations of workers and patrons having grown up with the business since its opening in April of 1997. He said discussions led them to this decision.

And now, Mancy said the restaurant is ordering new barstools, along with some other fine dining touches.

The restaurant will also expand its lunch and banquet offerings.

Mancy's Italian Grill is one of four restaurants in the Mancy's Restaurant Group.

Mancy's Ideal, an American-style restaurant half a mile away from its Italian counterpart, closed its doors on Jan. 13 after the owners decided not to renew the lease.
