WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — The former Peloton Output Park facility in Wood County has a new owner.

First Solar, a Tempe, Ariz.-based solar company, purchased the almost 1.2 million-square-foot Troy Township facility and land from Peloton for $33 million, according to Wood County property records. Peloton purchased the property, by U.S. 23 and Pemberville Road, for $6.2 million.

The building was originally going to be a factory for the exercise bike manufacturer and would have brought more than 2,000 jobs to the area, but Peloton pulled the plug and prospective buyers began to tour the premises.

In a statement released Wednesday, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine applauded First Solar's purchase of the building.

"First Solar’s purchase of the Peloton building is an excellent sign that one of Northwest Ohio’s strongest employers will continue its growth in Ohio. The Troy Township, Ohio site was purpose-built for the latest manufacturing, and First Solar’s decision to utilize the 1.2 million square foot space and add good-paying jobs is a great next step for this site in Wood County," DeWine's statement reads.

First Solar has not yet responded to a request for comment from WTOL 11 on its plans for the facility.
