Man indicted on multiple charges for 2020 homicide of 19-year-old

Mytaveon Walls was indicted Wednesday on two murder charges and a felonious assault charge for the shooting death of James Smith Jr.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A Lucas County grand jury on Wednesday indicted a man on multiple charges for the 2020 homicide of a 19-year-old in central Toledo.

Mytaveon Walls was indicted on two murder charges, a felonious assault charge and a charge of participating in a criminal gang for the shooting death of James Smith Jr.

Smith was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound nearby the Moody Manor apartment complex and Page Street on June 24, 2020. He later died at the hospital.

Two others, Kendall Hill and Keondre Baker, have also been arrested and charged for the shooting.

Walls was 15 years old at the time of the shooting. He was 18 years old when he was arrested.

Hill and Baker were 16 years old at the time of the shooting and 19 years old when they were arrested.
