LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio — A man accused and charged in the death of a Maumee man appeared in court Wednesday, where a judge continued his bond.
Zachary Boyer, 34, appeared in Lucas County Court of Common Pleas for a pretrial on charges of murder, involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide, felonious assault and aggravated assault, to which he has pleaded not guilty on all counts. A judge set Boyer's bond at $250,000, no percent. If he posts bond, he will be required to comply with electronic monitoring.

Boyer is accused of seriously injuring 76-year-old John Meeker during an altercation at Side Cut Metropark in November 2023. An autopsy revealed Meeker sustained blunt head trauma that included a skull fracture and underlying injuries to the brain, according to the Lucas County Coroner's office. The coroner said Meeker was found at Side Cut Metropark and remained in the hospital until his death on Nov. 15.

Boyer is scheduled for another hearing on May 22.
