MAUMEE, Ohio — Maumee police have charged a man with reckless homicide in connection with a deadly Nov. 4 altercation at Side Cut Metropark.
Zachary Boyer, 34, of Maumee, has been taken into custody and charged with reckless homicide, a third-degree felony, police said.
The altercation near the Silver Lake area of the park on the afternoon of Nov. 4 seriously injured John Meeker, 76, who was then hospitalized. Meeker died Nov. 15.
An autopsy revealed Meeker sustained blunt head trauma that included a skull fracture and underlying injuries to the brain, according to the Lucas County Coroner's office. The coroner said Meeker was found down at Side Cut Metropark and remained in the hospital until his death.
The Toledo Metroparks rangers and Maumee police investigated the incident.
