Significant power outages affecting several thousand throughout NW Ohio

At 8 p.m., FirstEnergy estimated more than 14,300 customers without electricity as summer storms rolled through the area.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Thousands of residents were without power as of shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday as summer storms rolled through the northwest Ohio region.

More than 14,300 customers were without power, according to FirstEnergy. The map showed significant outages in west Toledo, Sylvania, Wauseon, Delta, Lemoyne, Woodville, Genoa and Oak Harbor.

Multiple reports of wires down in the following areas have been registered: 2702 Gracewood, Toledo; 2725 Lyceum Place, Toledo; 5701 W Sylvania Ave., Sylvania; 6929 S. Fredericksburg Dr., Sylvania. 

Several traffic lights also were malfunctioning due to the outages. Motorists are advised to treat non-functioning traffic lights as four-way stops.

More than 14,600 customers were without power Wednesday night.

Earlier, an outage was reported in the Five Points, Library Village and DeVeaux Village area, but was expected to be restored at 6 p.m.
