Police: Teen injured in shooting in west Toledo Sunday

The 17-year-old suffered a minor graze wound to his shin in a shootout on Hoiles Avenue just after 7:30 p.m.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A teen was injured and three people were arrested following an alleged shootout in west Toledo Sunday evening.

Toledo police said they responded to 3543 Hoiles Ave. for a shots fired call around 7:37 p.m. Witnesses told police that unknown suspects drove to the location and fired multiple shots at the home. 

According to Toledo police, witnesses said multiple people came out of the location and began to shoot back. 

A 17-year-old boy later arrived at the hospital with a minor graze wound to his left shin. Police said he stated that he was at the location on Hoiles Avenue when he was shot.

Malik Hampton, 26, was arrested for using weapons while intoxicated after police said he brought out a gun from the home on Hoiles Avenue. Michelle Hampton, 41, was also arrested for obstructing official business after allegedly attempting to take the gun from the yard while police were arresting someone else.

Another 17-year-old was also detained at the scene and found to be in possession of a handgun.
