Police: Person found shot in north Toledo dies

The victim was 19-year-old Najaye Owens, police said.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Police are investigating a death in north Toledo Sunday. 

According to a Toledo police report, crews responded to the 2100 block of Elm Street on a report of a person shot. Police said they arrived on scene and located the victim, 19-year-old Najaye Owens in the garage of the residence, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. 

The injury proved to be fatal, Toledo police said. No suspects were named in the report, and Owens' official cause and manner of death have not yet been released by the Lucas County Coroner's Office. 

Police continue to investigate. The incident is among several shootings that occurred in the city of Toledo between Friday and Sunday, injuring seven and killing one.
