Two victims, and a possible third, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in an early Wednesday morning shooting in Monroe

The weapon used in the event was a high-powered rifle, both confirmed victims were injured in their lower extremities.

MONROE, Mich — Around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday morning police responded to a report of multiple shots fired in the area of Eighth Street in Monroe, Michigan. Two victims were eventually identified, one being a 42-year-old male, both having been shot in the lower extremities according to Monroe Police

On Wednesday, Jan. 19, Monroe Police were dispatched to E. Eighth St. in Monroe around 12:15 a.m. in response to reports of multiple shots fire. Police discover evidence of shots fired, and that there were victims involved.

Police were then dispatched to the home of one of the victims, the 42-year-old male.

The victim informed officers that he was inside of his vehicle, parked and speaking to a known subject who was outside of the vehicle. Multiple shots were fired toward them without provocation, striking both.

The 42-year-old male victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, another shooting victim was identified, he was also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Multiple shell casings were found identifying the weapon as a high-powered rifle, and that a third victim may be involved. The third subject was not at the scene and the identity of the victim is unknown at this time.
