WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — A now-former Toledo police officer who resigned amid an internal affairs investigation regarding allegations of rape was sentenced Monday in Wood County.
Raul Jaso, 35, was placed on five years of community control sanctions, according to Wood County Prosecutor Paul Dobson. Two of those sanctions were 180 days in jail and 180 days of house arrest.
In April, Jaso entered a plea agreement of no contest to a lesser charge of sexual battery in Wood County Common Pleas Court to avoid trial, Toledo Police Department records show. He also must register as a sex offender.
Following his conviction, Jaso resigned from TPD on April 15.

With his resignation, the internal affairs department declared its investigation into Jaso closed, according to Toledo police records.
Jaso was under administrative investigation for conduct unbecoming an officer after he was charged with felony rape for sexually assaulting a woman at his home in Northwood in August 2023.
He pleaded not guilty to the original charge filed in October 2023, prior to accepting the plea deal.
