Toledo-based UBetOhio receives license from Ohio Gaming Commission; Barstool and FanDuel also OK'd

UBetOhio supplies bars and other establishments with betting kiosks. Sports betting becomes legal in Ohio on Jan. 1.

TOLEDO, Ohio — The Ohio Gaming Commission approved the first round of Class C gaming licenses Wednesday, including one for a Toledo-based company.

UBetOhio, located on Heatherdowns Boulevard, was among those awarded a license. The company sells self-service betting kiosks to bars, bowling alleys and other establishments.

Sports betting becomes legal in Ohio starting Jan. 1.

"We have brought together an investor team with more than 50 combined years of experience in the gaming, legal, and food and beverage industries," CEO Andrew Westmeyer said. "We’d especially like to thank the Ohio Casino Control Commission for the approval today and their excellent staff who have been great to work with through this extensive and thorough licensing process.  Our team is excited for the opportunity to bring a full-service sports betting experience to Ohio sports fans."

UBetOhio's machines are about the size of an arcade game. Bettors must be 21 years old to play.

The kiosks offer betting on moneylines, point spreads, over/unders and parlays. Bettors are limited to a weekly wagering limit of $700, per state legislation.

Many establishments across the state were preapproved for Class C licenses earlier this year. To view the complete list, click here.

FanDuel and Barstool Sportsbook were also approved Wednesday to operate mobile betting services. Barstool was also approved to operate a physical sportsbook at Hollywood Casino in Toledo.
