3 things to know for ALERT DAY Friday: Snow accumulation expected

Steadier snow will increase overnight into early Friday. Several inches of accumulation with minor blowing and drifting snow is expected through Friday's ALERT DAY.

TOLEDO, Ohio — WTOL 11's weather team continues the ALERT DAY for Friday, with cold and snow expected.

The ALERT DAY remains in place for Friday with another round of snow and cold that will arrive.

Here's what you need to know:

1. Snow will increase through midnight, turn steady into Friday morning

Snow is expected to continue Friday morning, with totals higher than Thursday.

2. Rare reverse band of lake effect snow possible from Toledo toward Sandusky

Heavier bands of snow may be possible from Toledo east toward Sandusky through mid to late afternoon. Areas in Erie and Huron counties may see four to six inches through Friday.

Snowfall will reach two to four inches for most areas by Friday afternoon. Lower totals far northest of Toledo with 1 to 2 inches possible. Higher totals east toward the lake and in Erie and Huron counties may see 4 to 6 inches of snow.

Temperatures will remain in the lower 20s on Friday. It will turn breezy with some minor blowing and drifting snow into Friday afternoon and evening.

3. Gusty winds Friday bring blowing snow

This will make travel hazardous and bring bitterly cold wind chills. Plan on frigid cold by Saturday morning with lows near zero and poor travel conditions with snow-covered roads.
