One person killed in three-vehicle Ottawa County crash Tuesday

OTTAWA COUNTY, Ohio — Authorities with the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash involving three vehicles Tuesday morning.

According to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Sonic, driven by 46-year-old Heather Musser of Oregon, was traveling eastbound on State Route 579 at approximately 6:40 a.m. Musser drove left of center near Genoa Clay Center Road in Allen Township and struck a westbound vehicle, OSHP said. The collision caused Musser's vehicle to become disabled in the roadway, where a third vehicle, traveling eastbound, struck it.

Musser sustained fatal injuries in the crash, the state patrol said. The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were injured and treated at a hospital and by EMS at the scene, respectively. The driver and one of the third vehicle's three passengers sustained minor injured and treated at the hospital. The two other passengers were not injured. 

According to the agency, all drivers and occupants were wearing safety belts when the crash occurred. The incident remains under investigation.
