TOLEDO, Ohio — Gas prices in the Toledo area rose 27 cents in the last week.
A gallon of gas costs, on average, $3.10 in Toledo as of Monday, according to a GasBuddy survey of 315 gas stations in Toledo. The price is also now 17 cents higher than it was a month ago.
The GasBuddy survey found the cheapest station in Toledo was priced at $2.82/gallon, while the most expensive was $3.21/gallon. Statewide, the range was $2.23/gallon to $3.59/gallon from least expensive to most expensive.
Nationally, Toledo gas prices are close to the rest of the country. In a survey of 150,000 gas stations cross the U.S., the average price of a gallon of gas was $3.03, a figure that continues to see consistent lowering, according to GasBuddy.
The average price of a gallon of gas in Toledo for Jan. 22 is the highest it has been on this date since 2021:
- Jan. 22, 2023: $3.40/gallon (U.S. average: $3.39)
- Jan. 22, 2022: $3.02/gallon (U.S. average: $3.33)
- Jan. 22, 2021: $2.22/gallon (U.S. average: $2.39)
"We continue to see gasoline prices bouncing off lows, only to re-test them again and again. While prices jumped in some places, it’s being offset by drops elsewhere, and that has kept alive the possibility of briefly seeing the national average fall to the lowest level since 2021," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
"We remain just a nickel or so away from a $2.99 national average, and while the window of opportunity continues to slowly close, with refiners now starting the purge of winter gasoline on the West Coast, we still have a low level chance of getting there. But make no mistake- if we do see a national average of $2.99 per gallon, it won't last long as we start to turn the corner and get closer to the start of the transition to summer gasoline."
