Northwood accepted into Sandusky Bay Conference

The change, pending board approval, is expected to go into effect for the 2025-26 school year.

NORTHWOOD, Ohio — After applying to become a member of the Sandusky Bay Conference, Northwood Local Schools was approved on Wednesday to join the SBC.

Pending board approval, the change is expected to go into place for the 2025-26 school year. The board of education will consider the recommendation at their regular meeting on Monday, Jan. 22.

Northwood is a current member of the Toledo Area Athletic Conference, but school leaders said in a statement, "We have always looked for the best long-term opportunities for our students and community and our Athletic Department believes the SBC offers that opportunity."

Northwood will be in the River Division of the SBC, joining Danbury, Gibsonburg, Hopewell-Loudon, Lakota, New Riegel, Old Fort, Fremont St. Joe, St. Mary Central Catholic, Tiffin Calvert and Woodmore.

Northwood becomes the latest school to shift to a new conference. Most notably, the Northern Lakes League went through realignment beginning with the 2023-24 school year. Toledo-area Catholic schools joined the Catholic High School League in Detroit.
