Tim Federowicz named next Mud Hens manager

Tim Federowicz has a major league baseball career spanning several years and took silver with the U.S. Olympic team in the Tokyo games.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A former MLB catcher and Olympic silver medalist was named the next manager of the Toledo Mud Hens, a team spokesperson announced in a press release Tuesday.

Tim Federowicz was named the Mud Hens' manager for the 2024 season, the 11th person to manage the Mud Hens at Fifth Third Field in downtown Toledo. He replaced Anthony Iapoce, who was promoted to the first base coach for the Tigers in the 2024 season.

Federowicz, 36, has had a career in professional baseball for years. In 2008, he was drafted by the Boston Red Sox following three seasons at the University of North Carolina. Between 2011 and 2019, he played for the Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, Houston Astros, Cincinnati Reds and Texas Rangers.
