TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - A pair tied to Toledo's famous Tony Packo's restaurant have been found not guilty of stealing from the company.
The jury came to a verdict Thursday morning in Lucas County Common Pleas Court. The trial lasted two weeks, but the jury only deliberated for an hour.
Tony Packo III, grandson to the restaurant's founder, and Cathleen Dooley, the company's controller, each faced three counts of aggravated theft, accused of stealing about $170,000 from the east Toledo restaurant from January 2006 to February 2010. However, a jury says they did not do it.
According to Robert Bennett, customers will notice no change at Tony Packo's.
Packo and Dooley were arraigned back in January and charged with three counts of aggravated theft, which are third degree felonies.
Dooley left the company in July.
"It should have never gotten to this point, however, at the end of the day justice was served and we're grateful. Our family is grateful for that," said Packo III.
The prosecution chose not to speak to the media.
