TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Toledo Zoo has been named the best in the United States by USA Today.
The zoo won USA Today's Reader's Choice contest, beating out zoos in larger cities including Houston, Chicago, Dallas and San Diego.
The contest was based on USA Today reader votes.

Zoo officials say along with the voting, a communitywide effort of outpouring support for the zoo is the reason why they're the best. They say they're going to keep pushing the envelope to give visitors a one of a kind experience, opening new exhibits like Penguin Beach and Flamingo Key, which open on Friday.
