Erica Shaffer worked at WTOL from Feb. 2009 to March 2011.

Erica Shaffer joined the News 11 team as a general assignments reporter and photographer  in February 2009.

Originally from San Diego California, Erica has also called places like Lake Tahoe, California and Atlanta, Georgia home.

Erica is excited about her new adventure in Toledo, Ohio. She says, "I would say I am most excited about the seasons."

Erica comes from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia where she earned degrees in both Broadcast Journalism and Romance Languages- French and Spanish.

While in college she was a reporter, producer and Anchor for NewSource 15.

Erica also anchored the international news program, World In Focus and worked as a sports reporter for Georgia Gameday, a local sports show highlighting the Georgia Bulldogs sports teams.

In college Erica used her summers to participate in internships with stations like NBC Augusta in Augusta, Georgia and Fox 5 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Erica also took on an internship with Palestra.net, a website that hires students to report on campus news.

Although Erica loves her job in the news department, it is hard to keep her out of the sports department- talking stats with the guys.

"I'm not like most girls, I love my football!"

In her free time... you guessed it she is usually watching a football, basketball or baseball game, if she isn't at the game already.

Erica also enjoys traveling and using her knowledge of the French and Spanish Language.

Erica says her little sisters, Rebecca, Ariana and Olivia are her motivation to always do better work than the day before.

Erica loves to talk to new people. Please say hello if you see her, and give her the score of the game if you know it :).
