Rec Center is the place to be for cat lovers this weekend

If you're allergic to cats, you might want to stay away from the Lucas County Rec Center this weekend, because the biggest cat show in northwest Ohio is in full swing.

MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) - If you're allergic to cats, you might want to stay away from the Lucas County Rec Center this weekend, because the biggest cat show in northwest Ohio is in full swing.

250 cats are in the show this year.

The event is an equal opportunity competition, as rescue cats are competing right alongside pedigree cats.

The cat show is sponsored by the Great Lakes Cat Consortium, Inc., a local 501c3 education and rescue awareness group, in conjunction with Glass CiTICAts Cat Club.

"We have a ton of vendors here selling everything that you can imagine [related to] cats, up to 55 breeds of cats in the show and competition… just tons of excitement out here at the Rec Center," said Jamie Christian, President of the Great Lakes Cat Consortium.

The cat show is open Sunday from 9am to 4pm, and admission is only $4.
