Perrysburg Schools grades K-4 removed from web, app program

A website and phone app used by Perrysburg Schools for grading and other school information will no longer be used for grades K-4. Superintendent Tom Hosler says parents had some complaints about the system not being user friendly.

PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) - A website and phone app used by Perrysburg Schools for grading and other school information will no longer be used for grades K-4.

Superintendent Tom Hosler says parents had some complaints about the system not being user friendly.

In the Perrysburg school district, grades 5-12 are on a different grading scale than grades K-4. The grading system used for the lower grades, isn't working well with Schoology program. Now those grade levels will go back to using paper progress reports until they figure out an easier system.

"Instead of that A or B, [if] you've already mastered it, it's in progress, so that's like a two. Or you're not getting it, that's like a one,” Hosler explained. “We still have parents that say, ‘OK, what would the grade be? Is a two a C?'”

There's also some disconnect between the Schoology system and the interface that's used to send school information to the state. That's something they're trying to work on as well.

"From a parent's perspective, once we fix that, it's going to be just a couple of quick clicks to get where they need to go," he said.

Perrysburg Schools will continue to look at all their options for either fixing the problems in Schoology or replacing it with something else.
