Driver killed in single-vehicle crash on Anthony Wayne Trail

The driver had a medical emergency while heading southbound on the Anthony Wayne Trail and struck a tree, according to Toledo police.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A driver died in a single-vehicle crash on the Anthony Wayne Trail Friday night.

Joseph Hunsinger, 53, was driving southbound on the Anthony Wayne Trail nearby the Toledo Zoo when he drove off the road and struck a tree, according to a Toledo police report. Police at the scene told WTOL 11 that Hunsinger had a medical emergency while driving.

Hunsinger was taken to the hospital from the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which is under investigation, according to police.

The northbound portion of Anthony Wayne Trail in front of the Toledo Zoo is closed while crews work to clear the crash.
