Toledo man sentenced to 1 year in prison for accepting a bribe as a corrections officer

LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio — A Toledo man will spend one year behind bars after being found guilty for accepting bribes while working as a corrections officer.

Marcus Henderson, 34, worked for the Lucas County Correctional Center in 2016 when he accepted a $500 bribe to smuggle a cell phone and tobacco into the jail for an inmate, according to court documents.

Henderson was found guilty of one count of Hobbs Act extortion under color of official rights and one count of providing contraband in prison by a jury in 2019.

The case was investigated by the FBI.
