AKRON, Ohio — The St. Vincent-St. Mary High School marching band from Akron is set to make its international debut on March 17 at the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Dublin, Ireland.

“The STVM community raised more than $100,000 for the trip, which significantly reduced the cost for students,” according to a press release from the school. “This Ireland trip has been a great source of pride for the entire community. A total of 158 will be traveling with the Irish, including chaperones and families.”

We’re told the marching band started raising funds for this opportunity after receiving an invitation to march in the parade back in 2022.

Those marching in the Ireland parade include current students, 10 alumni, one majorette and one Irish dancer.

The Fighting Irish marching band will depart for Ireland on Friday, March 15.

But first…

The band, which school officials say has been directed by Brian Campbell for the past 25 years, will march in Akron’s St. Patrick’s Day parade on Saturday, March 9.

St. Vincent-St. Mary High School is also the alma mater of NBA legend and Akron native LeBron James.
