Rossford business collecting donations for families displaced in Friday apartment fire

Industrial Power Systems is collecting toys and essentials for families that lost their homes shortly before Christmas.

ROSSFORD, Ohio — A local business is stepping up to collect donations for families that lost their home in an apartment fire Friday afternoon.

Industrial Power Systems, a Rossford contracting company, will collect toys and essential items next week to donate to residents of River Ridge Apartments affected by the blaze.

"Some coworkers started texting back and forth, saying we really should do something. There's got to be something we can do,"  said Kristopher Gray, chief compliance officer with IPS.

Nearly two dozen people were displaced by the fire that broke out in the apartment building Friday afternoon.

No one was injured, but residents lost belongings to smoke and fire damage.

The company is collecting donations at its office at 146 Dixie Highway in Rossford from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday next week, Gray said.
