Police investigating two shootings at two apartment complexes Tuesday morning

The shootings happened about 25 minutes apart

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police are investigating two separate shootings Tuesday morning.

The first shooting happened at the Greenbelt apartments on Walnut in north Toledo around 3:12 a.m.

Police say Jaequan Smith was shot in the lower ankle and taken to the hospital. He is going to be okay.

Police say another bullet flew into the apartments, but no one was hurt. Police say it is unclear if Smith or the apartment building was specifically targeted.

No one has yet been arrested in this shooting.

The second shooting happened in south Toledo around 3:36 a.m.

The shooting happened at a Beal Properties apartment on Hill Avenue near Wenz Road.

Police arrived on scene to find Joshua Bird suffering from a single gunshot wound to his stomach.

Police say he was shot inside his apartment by an unknown person.

Bird was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to be okay, according to police.

No one has been arrested at this time.
