Local recovery house catches fire in north Toledo

Neighbors say six people live inside the home, but no one was hurt.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A local recovery house in north Toledo went up in flames Friday morning.

"The House" a local AA support home across from Jamie Farr Park, caught fire around 4 a.m.

Neighbors say six people live inside the home on Summit, but no one was hurt.

However, those who lived there are visibly shaken and upset.

The House is owned by an elderly couple who also live in the home, and are described as a pillar of support and hope in the neighborhood as they help recovering addicts even though they don't have much themselves.

Two of the occupants say they've known the couple since the '90s and are longtime best friends.

Around 15 to 30 people would attend ten AA meetings throughout the week.

It is believed by the residents that the fire started in the attic.
