Police were called to the apartment complex around 9:45 on Saturday night to respond to a domestic incident.

OREGON, Ohio — A man is in the hospital after being shot by police in Oregon Saturday evening.

Navarre said there was an altercation between a man and a woman near the back of the complex. The 911 call came from the woman.

At some point, the man got in his car and tried to leave the scene, striking one of the officers. That officer was taken to St. Charles Hospital and treated for some abrasions.

Officers then shot at the man, who was hit twice - once in the neck and once in the shoulder.

Police say the shooting victim did not have a gun.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation was called to assist in the investigation.

Navarre said the officers were placed on administrative leave until an investigation is completed by the Firearms Review Board.

After the incident, a group of people gathered and confronted the police. Navarre said he spoke with the victim’s family and told them "they will get to the bottom of this."

Navarre said he reassured the family that all officers have body and dash cameras and that all footage would be reviewed.
