Driver hospitalized after crashing into Sylvania salon; alcohol a factor, authorities say

Jeremy Liebat, 36, of Toledo, ran a red light at Erie Street, drove off the roadway and crashed into Keith's Hair Design on Friday, authorities said.

SYLVANIA, Ohio — A driver is hospitalized after crashing his vehicle into a Sylvania salon Friday night.

Sylvania fire crews responded to the call regarding a vehicle crashing into Keith's Hair Design near the intersection of Erie and Main streets around 9 p.m. Friday.

The driver, identified by the Ohio State Highway Patrol on Wednesday as 36-year-old Jeremy Liebat, of Toledo, was driving south on Main Street when he ran a red light at Erie Street, authorities said. Liebat drove off the road and crashed into the salon.

Liebat is suspected of being under the influence at the time of the crash, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol report. Two first responders said they smelled alcohol on the driver and the driver admitted he had been drinking, the report said. A partial bottle of whiskey was also found.

Liebat was awake and alert at the hospital following the crash. Salon employees working at the time were not injured in the crash.

No charges have been filed and the incident is under investigation, authorities said.
