"She had a very bright spirit and loved Christmas"; Dee Warner's family honors her with Christmas tree

The Comstock Christmas Riverwalk in Adrian allows people to honor loved ones by decorating Christmas trees.

ADRIAN, Mich. — The Dee Ann Warner case is making national headlines after her husband Dale Warner was arrested for her murder last week.

Now, Dee Warner's family is honoring her with a tree this Christmas.

Every year in downtown Adrian the river is lined with Christmas trees for the Comstock Christmas Riverwalk, where people decorate trees to honor those who have passed.

This year will be the second year loved ones have set up a tree in Dee Warner's honor.

"She loved purple. She was very outgoing, and the cheetah print, she liked animal print. So I just wanted to keep up Dee's spirit," said Shelley Hardy, Dee Warner's sister-in-law. "She had a very bright spirit and loved Christmas, and I just wanted to keep that going, so I will."

Her family says she loved the holidays, especially Christmas. Dee Warner's grandchildren crafted homemade ornaments with messages on them. Dee Warner was a mom .. and a grandmother.... when she disappeared in April of 2021.

Dee's husband Dale Warner is charged with her murder and sits in jail just a short distance from the park where her tree is displayed.

A tree lighting ceremony at Comstock Park will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 7:30pm, after the city's Holiday Light Parade.
