11 Investigates: Sylvania Twp. firefighter on paid leave after allegedly stealing pills

Police records show an investigation is ongoing into Lt. Ryan Sedlock. The results of a drug test he was ordered to take have not yet been released.

SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — UPDATE: Ryan Sedlock has been charged with two counts of theft. Charges were filed in Sylvania Municipal Court, Friday, Oct. 27.

11 Investigates has learned Sylvania Township Fire Department has put Lt. Ryan Sedlock on paid administrative leave after he allegedly stole medication.

According to the department's Facebook page, Sedlock has been with the department for 13 years.

A police report taken on Oct. 6 states Sedlock's wife was worried about him abusing medication. She came to the fire station, searched his truck and found a bottle of Tramadol that was not prescribed to him.

She took pictures of the bottle and sent it to another Sylvania Township firefighter, who reported it to the administration.

During the preliminary investigation, it was found that the owner of the prescription bottle was a patient that Sedlock responded to earlier that day.

Police contacted the patient who said she never gave anyone permission to take her medication.

Sedlock was confronted about the photos and was ordered to take a drug test.

The results of that test or if anything else was found inside his truck have not been released since the investigation is still ongoing.

The Sylvania Township fire chief told WTOL 11 that the department is conducting an internal investigation to decide how to move forward with Sedlock.
