Toledo-Lucas County Health Department coronavirus update |1,825 total cases, 163 deaths

The health department reported Monday there were 1,825 total cases of COVID-19 in Lucas County with 163 deaths. There are more female cases than male.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Here are the latest updates from the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department regarding the coronavirus pandemic in our community:

Tuesday

As of 3:40 p.m. there were 1,825  total cases of COVID-19 in Lucas County, with 1,678 confirmed cases and 147 probable. 

There have been 163 deaths and of those, 146 are confirmed and 17 probable.

Of the cases reported there are 703 males cases and 1095 female, with ages ranging from infancy to 103 years old. 

The Lucas County Community COVID-19 Call Line is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The line can be reached at 419-251-4000.

Monday

As of 4:45 p.m. there were 1,781 total cases of COVID-19 in Lucas County, with 1,637 confirmed cases and 144 probable. 

There have been 158 deaths and of those, 140 are confirmed and 18 probable.

To report COVID-19 concerns such as non-essential businesses operating, essential businesses not following health guidelines or large crowd gatherings, you are encouraged to call 419-213-4161.

Sunday

New numbers

As of 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, there were 1,716 total cases of COVID-19 in Lucas County, with 1,591 confirmed cases and 125 probable. There have been 155 deaths and of those, 137 are confirmed and 18 probable.

Women outnumber men in the number of cases with 1024 female cases and 692 male cases.

Confirmed cases range in age from 1 to 101. 

Saturday

New numbers

As of 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, there were 1,694 total cases of COVID-19 in Lucas County, with 1,571 confirmed cases and 123 probable. There have been 155 deaths and of those, 137 are confirmed and 18 probable.

Women outnumber men in the number of cases with 1015 female cases and 679 male cases.

Confirmed cases range in age from 1 to 101. 

The death reported on Saturday represents a male in his 60s.

Friday

New numbers

As of 5:20 p.m. Friday, there were 1,579 total cases of COVID-19 in Lucas county, with 1,466 confirmed cases and 113 probable. There have been 154 deaths and of those, 136 are confirmed and 18 probable.

Thursday

New numbers

As of 3:25 p.m. Thursday, there were 1,540 total cases of COVID-19 in Lucas county, with 1,460 confirmed cases and 80 listed as probable. To date, there have been 149 deaths; of those, 131 are confirmed deaths and 18 are probable deaths. 

Tuesday

New numbers

As of 3:40 p.m., Tuesday, there were 1,448 total COVID-19 cases in Lucas County, with 1,377 of those confirmed and 122 listed as probable. The county has 140 coronavirus deaths; of those, 122 are confirmed and 18 are listed as probable.  

Monday

Toledo Lucas County Health Department Commissioner Dr. Eric Zgodzinski,  was joined by Equality Toledo Executive Director Sheena Barnes, Toledo City Council Member Nick Komives and Manager of Treatment Services Elijah Jones from Mental Health Recovery Services Board of Lucas County for the county's daily briefing. 

New Numbers

As of 10:55 a.m. Monday, there were 1,387 total COVID-19 cases in Lucas County, with 1,357 of those confirmed and 70 listed as probable. The county has 124 coronavirus deaths; of those, 107 are confirmed and 17 are listed as probable.  

Uptick in overdoses 

Over the weekend, the health department saw an uptick in drug overdoses. An exact number was not confirmed during the meeting.The state's capital also witnessed an uptick. 

Zgodzinski reminded the community that Naloxone is available at the health department. He strongly recommended that individuals in need to make an appointment with the health department rather than walking in to ensure safety of staff and others. 

Zgodzinski  added that majority of programs at the health department are up and running, however to fully expand service to what they once were will still take time. 

A Naloxone kit is also available at Equality Toledo.

LGBTQ Community

Monday's panel highlighted the impacts of COVID-19 on the LGBTQ community and provided several different resources available that offer help in a wide variety of needs available at the health department's website. 

Barnes said there has been an uptick in homelessness in the LGBTQ youth and noted that the youth is at higher risk because of their sexuality and no support at home. 

Barnes also said that Safety Net that the Zepf's Center's Safety Net is at full capacity because of the need. 

Komives and Jones also explained how the virus has exasperated existing issues that the LGBTQ community generally faces. 

Anyone who is experiencing difficulties with getting help from the community is welcomed to reach out Komives and Barnes. 

Individuals in need of food are encouraged to visit Equality Toledo's food pantry which is available to ALL who come. The pantry is open on Tuesdays 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday's 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

As of Friday, the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department reported 1,317 confirmed and 70 probable cases of coronavirus, making a total of 1,387 in the county.

There have been 103 confirmed and 17 probable COVID-related deaths, for a total of 120.

Cases include 562 male cases and 825 female cases.

Ages range from 3 to 101 years old.
