COVID-19 in Ohio: 19,697 new cases reported Friday

The Ohio Department of Health has now reported a total of 2,480,566 coronavirus cases in the state.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Health reported 19,697 new COVID-19 cases, 476 hospitalizations, and 742 new deaths on Friday.

Data collected between Dec. 18, 2021 and Jan. 1, 2022 shows the omicron variant makes up 77.53% of all cases in Ohio with delta accounting for 22.11%. 

In the previous two-week reporting period, omicron was 30.85% and delta was 68.70%.

Reported data as of Jan. 21:

  • 2,480,566 cases
  • 31,987 deaths
  • 104,390 hospitalizations
  • 2,037,118 presumed recoveries 
  • 7,130,638 (61%) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine
