TOLEDO -- The trial continued Tuesday for a Toledo man accused of killing his girlfriend's daughter and stabbing his own son.
Eric Harmon is accused of killing four year old Skylar Bernard and stabbing his two month old son Gavin. The incident happened in August of 2003 at the home Nicole Miller, his girlfriend.
On Tuesday, the children's grandfather took the stand. He says he was in the garage when Harmon was stabbing Gavin, "All of a sudden he screamed and started hitting the baby but I did not know he had a knife."
Eventually a neighbor would come to help the little girl. Nicole Miller's neighbor Abby Lukac also took the stand and described what she saw and did.
"She was in front of the door laying on the ground. Prosecutor: "Did you pick her up" Abby: "Yes I did. I ran down to my house and gave her to her mother."
Prosecutors say Harmon stabbed Skyler twice and Gavin six times. Somehow, Gavin managed to survive.
Eric Harmon is facing the death penalty. The trial is expected to last at least through the end of the week.
