SENECA COUNTY, Ohio — The Seneca County Sheriff's Office released a statement today regarding a shooting that occurred in Adams Township on Saturday.
According to the sheriff's office, a call for 'shots fired' occurred in the 7900 block of Township Road 196, near Beaver Creek Reservoir.
Deputies state that an altercation between several individuals had taken place prior to their arrival at the reservoir. The confrontation allegedly escalated, leading to a victim attempting to flee in his car while several other vehicles, including a truck, began chasing him.
According to the victim and a witness, gunshots were fired at the victim's vehicle by occupants of the pursuing truck. Investigators said bullets had struck the victim's car.
Authorities said further investigation led them to the occupants of the truck. 22-year old Dylon Avery and 25-year-old Dakota Hay from Bellevue were both arrested following the incident. Both men are being charged with attempted murder and are being held at the Seneca County Jail.
In a statement on social media, Seneca County Sheriff Frederick W. Stevens adds that the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed upon its conclusion.
