TOLEDO, Ohio — Editor's note: This story has been updated to include Overman's plea in court.

A Toledo police officer was arrested and charged with domestic violence after an incident in east Toledo April 27.

According to a Toledo police report, a TPD crew responded to a residence in the 1800 block of Woodmore Street at approximately 6 p.m. Police said they determined a Toledo police officer, Thomas Overman, had assaulted an adult family member. According to a court document, Overman had pushed the victim into a kitchen cabinet during an argument, causing injury to the victim's left arm.

Police said they arrested Overman without incident or injury and transported him to Lucas County Jail. Overman was charged with one count of assault and one count of domestic violence, both first-degree misdemeanors. Overman was then released on OR bond.

According to the report, police collected Overman's department issued firearm, radio, badge and ID cards, all of which were booked into the property room.

In the report, police said the incident was under investigation by the Internal Affairs Bureau.

In court Wednesday, Overman pleaded not guilty. A judge continued his own recognizance bond, and ordered him not to have contact with the victim. The date of his next hearing was not yet made available.

WTOL 11 has reached out to Toledo police for comment but did not immediately hear back.
