TOLEDO, Ohio — A former Allen County corrections officer from Toledo was sentenced in March on a charge of receiving and distributing visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, following a conviction in November 2023

According to court records, Christopher Frater, 46, of Toledo, was sentenced on March 12 to 120 months in prison. After serving the sentence, Frater will be on supervised release for 20 years. A judge also ordered Frater to pay $26,000 in restitution.

Frater filed to appeal the decision on March 25.

Frater, a former corrections officer in Allen County, Ohio, was charged after an FBI investigation, according to a news release.

In 2017 an undercover investigator was able to download files of child sex abuse material from an IP address at the defendant's then-home in Lima, according to the release.

Then, in 2018, agents executed a search warrant at Frater's residence and seized his computer and cell phone. A forensic review of the devices showed Frater had used them to distribute and receive child sex abuse material, the U.S. attorney's office said.
