Toledo man arrested, accused of shooting at driver on I-75 in Michigan

Police say the suspect was lodged in jail on charges including felonious assault and carrying a concealed weapon.

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. — Michigan authorities on Monday arrested a Toledo man who allegedly fired a shot at another person during a road rage incident on I-75 in Monroe County.

The victim and his vehicle were not struck by the shot, according to a press release from Monroe Post of the Michigan State Police.

Police say dispatchers received a call at about 11:05 a.m. Monday from the victim, 68, saying that the suspect, 54, was driving alongside them southbound on I-75 when he "brandished a pistol" and fired one shot.

Both vehicles then exited I-75 at Laplaisance Road. The victim safely parked at a gas station and waited for police while the suspect was taken into custody at the nearby Harwood Plaza without incident.

The pistol was found in the suspect's vehicle, according to police.

The suspect was lodged in jail facing charges of felonious assault, carrying a concealed weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm and brandishing a firearm, according to MSP.

Anyone with additional information concerning the incident is asked to please contact MSP Trooper I. Molla at (734) 242-3500.
