Person taken to hospital after west Toledo apartment shooting

Police say the 19-year-old victim was a resident of the apartment complex.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A person had to be taken to the hospital on Sunday evening after being shot at a west Toledo apartment complex.

Toledo police said the shooting happened around 7 p.m. at the Piccadilly West Apartment Complex on West Benalex Drive near West Alexis Road and Bennett Road.

According to police, they responded to the location and found a 19-year-old resident inside the apartment complex suffering from a "serious" gunshot wound. They were transported to the hospital and are expected to survive their injuries, TPD said.

According to a police report, a 17-year-old was taken into custody and charged with felonious assault.
