PORT CLINTON, Ohio — An Ottawa County man was arrested Wednesday after a grand jury indicted him on 100 counts of child sex crimes.
Police say an investigation into a person in possession of child pornography started in August 2019.
In September, officers conducted a search warrant on two properties in Erie Township and Catawba Island Township, owned by Stephen Smith, 58.
Investigators found a large amount of child pornography after reviewing computers, thumb drives and other evidence, according to police.
Smith was then indicted on 100 counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.
Police arrested Smith in Sandusky without incident, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
Smith is still due in court.
