Go 419 | Easter egg scavenger hunt at the Wood County Museum through March 30

Beginning Friday, the Wood County Museum will be inviting guests to their 50 acres of property to take part in their annual Easter egg scavenger hunt.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — We're still 10 days away from Easter, but a non-profit in Wood County is offering you an early hunt with a little history lesson as well.

For the fourth year, the Wood County Museum will be inviting guests to their 50 acres of property to take part in their annual Easter Egg Hunt Scavenger Hunt.

10 informational signs have been placed throughout the property outside of the original buildings of the historic Wood County Poor Farm.

Museum marketing and events coordinator Marissa Muniz-Kolhoff said the event began in 2021 as a way of getting some more foot traffic onto the museum grounds during the pandemic.

"It has changed into this. We first hid actual Easter eggs and we learned from that because they went so quickly and switched to the signs," Muniz-Kolhoff said.

Now 10 signs are placed all across the museum property with the goal of inspiring visitors to stroll the entire grounds and learn more about the different buildings on the historic farm grounds.

Scavenger hunt passports can be picked up inside the museum or at their two outdoor kiosks.

Starting Friday and running through Saturday, March 30, you can come in and claim your scavenger hunt passport and once it's filled out, bring it back in when the museum office is open to turn it in for a prize.

"10 spots, check them off, visit all of them, bring it into the front porch during open hours Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. and you can get a prize," Muniz-Kolhoff said.

Also new this year, the Wood County Museum is offering Free First Friday with no admission on any Friday and chances to make and take crafts as well.
