Carruth Studios commemorating total solar eclipse with return of retired designs

Along with the celestial designs, the studio can also laser engrave its sculptures to better mark the occasion.

WATERVILLE, Ohio — A well-known art studio in our area is offering specially designed pieces to commemorate the upcoming total solar eclipse.

Carruth Studio and Carruth Gift & Gallery have been in their Farnsworth Road location in Waterville since 2021.

Known for its unique sculptures, the studio wanted to come up with a few ideas for items that could commemorate the solar eclipse.

General manager Terry Langenderfer said their solution was to bring back some out-of-rotation pieces from the studio's past.

"The artisans looked through old catalogs, recalled things that they had made along with a couple current designs," Langenderfer said. "Utilizing those, along with our laser engraving technology, we were able to customize those and make them specific to this event."

Recently, the studio has begun using laser etching on some pieces. What used to take weeks for turnaround now takes days.

This means patrons will have plenty of time to order their own eclipse design if they want one.

"Certainly these are things that people will and can pass on to their family members because they will last many generations," Langenderfer said.

While supplies last, any purchase in the gallery over $60 will get you a glazed sun tile for free.

Along with offering a sculpture to remember the eclipse, Carruth Gift & Gallery shop manager Amy Connelly is hopeful to get some additional foot traffic over the weekend and into Monday from out-of-town visitors.

"Besides just selling Carruth pieces, we do have some other really unique gifts offered that are all made in the USA," Connelly said.

Carruth Gift & Gallery will also be a vendor at the Waterville Eclipse watch party, offering the eclipse designs and more.

"We're going to have a little table there, selling some of these items and potentially some of our other lunar and celestial designs," Langenderfer said.

The Carruth Gift & Gallery is open six days a week: Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
