Bruce Gradkowski's Toledo restaurant opens

Bengals quarterback and University of Toledo alum Bruce Gradkowski has opened a restaurant near his alma mater.

TOLEDO, OH (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - Bengals quarterback and University of Toledo alum Bruce Gradkowski has opened a restaurant near his alma mater.

The restaurant is in the new Gateway shops near the University of Toledo campus. It opens to the public on Tuesday, Jan. 15.

Gradkoswki says he opened the contemporary Italian restaurant to give back to the community that he calls home.

"It's going to be a place where everyone – people at UT and the community – can feel comfortable," said Gradkowski, who played for the Rockets 2002-2005. "We want it to be a special place on campus where you can relax and enjoy great food and great company.

Business partner Mike Graber said the food has a unique twist. Sure they serve pizza, he said, but they offer one with scallops and pecan smoked bacon with a lemon pepper cream sauce. They have burgers on the menu too, but they are made of specialty dry aged beef and have unique flavor combinations such as peanut butter and pancetta. The full menu includes a dozen appetizers, hand-cut steaks, pastas, pizzas, burgers and desserts.

The restaurant, located on Secor Road, also has an outdoor patio for warmer months and is open for lunch.
