Body of woman found on railroad tracks in Findlay

Police have identified the woman whose body was found on a railroad bridge early Sunday in Findlay. They say Vera Jo Reigle, 24, a mother of one, died of both sharp and blunt force trauma. Her cousin has been arrested and charged for the murder.

FINDLAY, OH (WTOL) - The body of Vera Jo Reigle, 24, mother of one, was discovered on the tracks of a railroad bridge early Sunday morning in Findlay.

Shannon Brooks, a cousin of the victim, said the suspects, Daniel Bixler, 21, of Tiffin, and his 17-year-old girlfriend from Fostoria beat Reigle all day Saturday and threatened to kill her.

The three then went for a walk. Only Bixler and the girlfriend returned. At first they said Reigle went with a boyfriend, later family members say the two admitted to killing Reigle.

"They slit her throat all the way around," said Brooks. "She held her neck up like this saying 'Please stop, I want to go home.'"

According to Brooks, Bixler was Reigle's cousin.

The coroner said there were multiple cuts all over Reigle's body and she died of both blunt and sharp force trauma.

Police arrested Bixler and his girlfriend for aggravated murder. Authorities later removed Reigle's 1-year-old daughter.

Train operators spotted Reigle's body as they approached the CSX Railroad Tracks over the Blanchard River near the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge.

The operators then reported the body to the police.
