Body found in submerged vehicle in Oregon

Oregon Police say a bicyclist spotted a car in the water at the corner of Millard Avenue and Otter Creed Road around 10 a.m. Sunday.

OREGON, OH (Toledo News Now) - A body was found inside a vehicle submerged in Otter Creek in Oregon.

Oregon Police say a bicyclist spotted a car in the water at the corner of Millard Avenue and Otter Creed Road around 10 a.m. Sunday.

Police say the black Chevrolet Impala was likely submerged in the water for several hours, or long enough for ice to reform in the creek around the car.

The vehicle appeared to have crashed through the guardrail at the intersection and overturned.

Police say the body of 20-year-old Bianca Bepler of Canal Winchester, Ohio was found inside the vehicle. She was wearing a seat belt. Her purse was located, however, no photo identification was found.

While the car did have an Ohio license plate, investigators say it was registered outside of the Toledo area.

Scuba divers with the Jerusalem Township water rescue crew waded through the water to try to locate any other victims. No one else was found in the water or inside the vehicle once it was towed out of the creek.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing.
