TOLEDO, Ohio — A man is in custody on a felony charge after he allegedly broke into a south Toledo residence and strangled a woman.
According to a Toledo police warrant, 22-year-old Kailyb Chestnut-Reid broke into an apartment in the 2500 block of Airport Highway on Oct. 16. He allegedly forced open the door by damaging its frame. Once inside, police said Chestnut-Reid strangled a woman in the apartment - described in the police warrant as the mother of his children - and then dragged her down the hall and down the stairs.
Police said in the report the victim had marks on her neck and a mark on her chest from the strangulation.
On Saturday, police executed a warrant and arrested Chestnut-Reid. According to court records, he was charged with aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony.
Chestnut-Reid's bond was set to $50,000, no percent. He was ordered to not have any contact with the victim.
