The Andersons announces new headquarters to be built in Monclova Twp

The company plans to purchase 55 acres of land north of Salisbury Road and west of I-475 for the new headquarters.

MONCLOVA TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Andersons, Inc. announced Friday that it has entered into agreements to move its corporate headquarters to Monclova Township.

The company plans to purchase 55 acres of land north of Salisbury Road and west of I-475 for the new headquarters. That site consists of about 25 percent of the property owned by Eagl Brandywine, LLC as the Brandywine Golf Course, and an adjacent property owned by the Lucas County Board of Commissioners.

The Andersons COO says they spent more than a year researching possible sites and narrowing it down.

"Quite some time ago we recognized our corporate headquarters could no longer meet the growth requirements of our company," said COO Hal Reed. "After evaluating several alternatives throughout the region, we determined this site to be the most suitable location for our employees, customers and visitors to our headquarters, and the one that provides us with the most flexibility to meet the needs of our company well into the future."

Reed says they did consider the Southwyck site in Toledo, but the site at Brandywine met all their needs and was a better option for the company financially and aesthetically. He says the company needed space and wanted a location that was easy for everyone to access.

The site purchase is subject to financial incentives, certain approvals, and various land closing conditions, including the approval of a rezoning application filed by the company with the Monclova Township Zoning Administrator. The Andersons expects the purchase to be finalized in time for site construction to begin in the spring of 2015.

"The Brandywine Country Club clubhouse will remain open and operating for club members, and the golf course will be reconfigured to create a newly routed 18-hole golf course in the Spring of 2015," said Mark Luthman, Touchstone Golf executive vice president and COO. "We have retained the local golf architecture firm of Hills and Forrest, Brandywine's original architects, to oversee the modification to the course. We will be meeting with membership within the next few days to share the plans."
